Welcome to
Lida's Lens.

Hi, I’m Lida.
Mother of a five-year-old boy, raising my family in Sweden.

I started this blog by writing about the things I had already spent years searching, reading, and thinking about, not topics chosen at random, but questions that arrived in my own life and stayed.

That has included the long process of watching early milestones, staying open to differences even when they were subtle, and following those questions all the way to assessment and a diagnosis of mild autism, or Autism Level 1. It has also included thinking about family size, sibling questions, and what it means to raise one child in the middle of so many assumptions about what a family is supposed to look like.

I spent a long time looking for other parents’ stories, research that could calm or challenge my worries, and explanations that made sense in everyday life. At some point, I realised that if I was already doing so much of that reading and searching, I might as well write about what I was learning and how I was making sense of it.

Most of what you will find here sits in two areas: navigating mild autism and raising one child.

My writing begins with my own experience and then widens into reading and research. My previous education and work have always involved research and analysis, so I naturally look for evidence, patterns, and nuance before I press publish. But this blog is not advice or professional guidance. It is a record of what I am trying to understand, one post at a time.

**A note on how I write: I use AI tools to help me draft and refine my posts. The experiences, research choices, opinions, and voice are my own. AI helps me shape them into clearer writing.

Welcome to Lida's Lens.

Hi, I’m Lida.
Mother of one pre-schooler. Raising my family in Sweden.

I decided to start this blog by looking at what I have actually spent a lot of my time searching, reading and thinking about over the past few years. Not topics I chose at random, but topics that naturally arrived in my life and stayed.

Walking the long road of watching early milestones, staying open to differences even when they are subtle, and following those questions all the way to assessment and a diagnosis of mild autism. Having one child and living with the question of siblings in the background, wondering what that means for friendships, for the sibling who never came, and for the stories people tell about “only children”.

These experiences made me live in search boxes for a long time. I kept looking for other parents’ stories, for research that could calm or challenge my worries, and for clear explanations that made sense in everyday life. At some point I realised that if I am already doing this much searching, I might as well start writing about what I am learning and how it feels, and share my thoughts in one place.

My writing is based first on my own experiences, and then on reading and research into what already exists. My previous education and work have always involved research and analysis, so I naturally try to look for evidence, patterns and nuance before I press publish. But this blog is not advice or professional guidance; it is a record of what I am trying to figure out, one post at a time.
